![]() ![]() In my life I have never been, ahem, regular. And in the category of things you never wanted to know about me, all of the backend problems that I’ve suffered from over the years have gone away. And I slept like a daddy (because we all know, babies don’t really sleep, but their daddies somehow do). I never gained a single pound back, and actually lost another five pounds in the months that followed. My skin looked great, and any dryness or blemishes cleared up. So when I was offered a free Blueprint Cleanse, the trendy juice-only diet that Food and Wine Magazine calls the cleanse for foodies, naturally I was game. I didn’t really loose a ton of weight on the cleanse itself (a lot of bloat, not a lot of weight), but I started off being a pretty small person to begin with. Vegetarian, vegan, Weight Watchers, Sugar Busters, Slim-Fast, cabbage soup, Mediterranean, South Beach, Atkins, raw food name the diet, I’ve tried it. ![]() I know the thing everyone wants to know about first is how much weight I lost. And it is why I am getting ready to cleanse again (I fell off the non-dairy wagon and I want to clean house for her and for me).Īs for the effects on me those too were unreal. The juice fast cleared all of that up and made me realize that the kid is super sensitive to dairy, which is why I stayed dairy-free for the months following the cleanse. Lola has crazy eczema, had a significant case of cradle cap, and generally pretty sensitive skin. But for $11 a bottle I wasn’t about to skip it, so I drank it daily and suffered in silence. In my head it was a way they could make a profit off of lemons and water. Nutritionally, I didn’t understand the point of this juice, or believe its claims of speeding up the metabolism. If you’ve ever done the Master Cleanse you know what I’m talking about. No this was some toxic acid with cayenne pepper that hit the back of your throat after each gulp and made you beg for death. It didn’t taste like lemonade, as in the awesome stuff that comes in a 1 gallon plastic cup at the New York State Fair. The one juice that freaking sucked my will to live was the Spicy Lemonade. I don’t really like chewing my liquids, so I could have skipped this happily. Kind of gloppy even after shaking it like crazy. The cleanse costs 65, and you’ll need to purchase three days’ worth of juices. If you’re ready to start the Blueprint Cleanse, then head to the Blueprint website and order your juices. And finally, don’t forget to drink plenty of water. The nut milk (yes, you read that right) was okay. Stock up on the juices you’ll need, and clear your schedule for the three days. The PAM juice was fantastic, although it felt more like a treat than a cleanse thing. ![]() I thought it was really fresh and kind of citrusy. I figured it was something that I could throw in a juice anyway if I really wanted to, and the last thing I wanted was more celery and cucumber.Unlike some other juice fast reviewers, I actually liked the green juice. I decided since I was a first-timer, I would treat myself to a half of an avocado. I knew it was just something I had to wait out like a food craving, but the hunger was lasting much longer than the day before, and the Green Juice just wasn’t cutting it.īluePrint does have a “cheat sheet” on their website with celery, cucumber, avocado, and black coffee. The good thing about doing these at home, and maybe it was because I was making smoothies and not juices, was that I had a lot of leftover juice every time I followed the recipe, so I’d just stick the juices in the fridge for later.Īround the same time as yesterday, between the Spicy Lemonade and the second Green Juice, I became hangry again. Besides dreading the preparation, I drank my green juice happily as I watched the morning news. I woke up not starving and actually feeling good about myself. I was honestly a little nervous it wouldn’t yield the same results, but figured not eating anything except for ground up kale, celery, and beets couldn’t hurt. The only real difference between my DIY cleanse and BluePrint’s was that I had a blender and there was no way to create a “cold-pressed juice” out of my ingredients. BluePrint’s 3-day cleanse costs $195.00 I got all of the groceries I needed from Trader Joe’s for $35, and they lasted me for the entire 3 days with some to spare. ![]() I decided I wanted to try BluePrint’s Renovation Cleanse program and found copycat recipes for all the juices they offer online. Being the broke college student that I am, I decided I would do the 3-day juice cleanse by making them myself. However, I also found that 3-day juice cleanse programs run anywhere from $140–$200. Also, since the cleanses claim to supplement your body with all the nutrition it really needs, it seemed like a moderately healthy option compared to some others (yes, I did consider the taco cleanse). Most of us have heard of the juice cleanse trend by now and, after some Googling, I found a girl who did it and lost three pounds in three days, which seemed acceptable by my standards. ![]()
